We Just Secured Our EMI License from the Dutch Central Bank: What This Means for Europe's Stablecoin Future

zerohash europe has officially received an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from De Nederlandsche Bank, the Dutch Central Bank.
This is a major milestone for us, but more importantly, it's a massive win for our partners. We've already been successfully serving customers and operating across the European Economic Area under our MiCAR license, which we received back in October 2025 from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets. With this latest announcement, we are proud to be the very first MiCAR-licensed firm to obtain an E-Money License in accordance with the European Banking Authority's (EBA) recent regulatory clarifications.
Navigating Europe's evolving crypto landscape requires staying ahead of the curve. Last year, the EBA noted that certain E-Money Token (EMT) flows require both a MiCAR license and payment services licensing. They instructed MiCAR-licensed firms engaging in EMT payments to secure a payment license or EMI by early 2026.
By securing our EMI license right on schedule, we are further reinforcing our leading global regulatory posture. It provides absolute legal and operational certainty for all the stablecoin-powered financial flows we power for banks, brokerages, fintechs, payment providers, and enterprise clients across the EEA.
Europe represents a massive market for stablecoin applications, and we are seeing accelerating momentum for our platform across the entire region. To support this growth, we have recently expanded our EU presence in Amsterdam, and we are already powering incredible regional partners, including Interactive Brokers Europe.
Combining our MiCAR and EMI licensing positions us perfectly to continue doing what we do best: supporting a broad range of compliant stablecoin and digital asset flows. Whether you are a bank looking to offer digital assets or a fintech enabling cross-border commerce, we've built the compliant infrastructure to help you scale safely.
Our global regulatory footprint now spans the EU, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, and 51 U.S. jurisdictions. We are fully equipped to help innovators seamlessly launch solutions across cross-border payments, commerce, trading, remittances, payroll, and tokenization.
The future of programmable money in Europe is bright, and we're thrilled to be building the compliant foundation for it.
